R&B sensation SZA has delighted fans by releasing a heartfelt cover of Eminem’s iconic song “Lose Yourself.” In a surprising move, the singer known for her soulful voice and introspective lyrics has put her unique spin on the Academy Award-winning track.
“U ever just cover Eminem on some tender sh-t for feels? (Not on a project Just for mental health),” SZA shared on social media, hinting at the personal significance behind the cover. The rendition stays true to the original, with SZA delivering Eminem’s rapid-fire verses with her own emotive touch.
In her cover, SZA raps the familiar lines: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti / He’s nervous, but on the surface, he looks calm and ready / To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin’.” The performance highlights her versatility and pays homage to the enduring power of Eminem’s lyrics.
This release comes as fans eagerly await SZA’s next album, LANA, which is rumored to be a deluxe version of her previous project, SOS. The announcement of LANA came last year on the first anniversary of SOS, heightening anticipation for new music from the acclaimed artist.
