Rapper Tekashi 69 has been arrested in New York City on an outstanding warrant related to an alleged choking incident at the Galleria Mall.
Tekashi 69, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is accused of grabbing a fan by the neck during an incident at the mall on Jan. 6.
According to court documents, the confrontation stemmed from the fan pulling out his camera to record Tekashi 69. The teen told investigators that the rapper yelled at him to erase the video and bodyguards also “surrounded him in a intimidating way.”
In effort to not get hurt, the teen told police that he erased the video, documents stated.
During the investigation, police interviewed the teen’s mother who corroborated her son’s claim that he was choked by Tekashi69.
The rapper was charged with assault causing bodily injury.
The rainbow haired rapper just appeared in court after being picked up by police on a warrant out of Texas, and told a judge that he acknowledges he’s been “irresponsible” while his mother openly wept.

According to sources inside the Manhattan courtroom, Tekashi69 admitted he has “been irresponsible” with handling his arrest warrant, and that going out on a European tour “wasn’t very responsible.”
The “Gotti” star lamented to the court that back home he has a non-working mother and a two-year-old daughter, clearly trying to gain sympathy from the judge and get released from custody. Unfortunately his bail was denied.
It was mentioned by the prosecutor that 6ix9ine is a flight risk, which weighed into the court’s decision to keep him locked up. The star’s mother was inconsolable during the hearing after learning her son would not be released.
He will remain behind bars until officials from Harris County, TX come to NYC and pick him up on the misdemeanor assault warrant.
