Apple Music, the NFL, and Roc Nation announced on Monday that Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The rapper and businessman will take the stage during the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027. The event will air on ESPN, ABC, and Disney+ and be available on NFL+. ESPN’s Spanish-language telecast will air on ESPN Deportes and Disney+, with Univision broadcasting its own Spanish-language version.
“From ‘Reasonable Doubt’ to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” Jay-Z stated in a press release. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
The announcement is part of a year-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of “Reasonable Doubt,” Jay-Z’s debut album released in 1996. The Jay-Z 30 campaign included immersive experiences and limited-edition products, while the musician broke attendance records with sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium, as well as in London, Paris, and Los Angeles.
Roc Nation, the entertainment company owned by Jay-Z, has worked with the NFL to produce the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019.
“For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated.
“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell continued. “I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”
“Jay-Z’s impact on global music culture is as profound as it is undeniable,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of music and international content. “We’ve had the privilege of working closely with him these last few years to bring some of the world’s most exciting and prolific artists to the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage, and we are so thrilled that he will be taking that stage himself this year. We know it’s going to be an incredible show.”
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, has won 25 Grammy Awards and four Emmy Awards. He was the first hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. His body of work also includes film and business ventures, and philanthropy.
Roc Nation will executive-produce the telecast and act as the NFL’s strategic entertainment adviser for the live performance, with Hamish Hamilton directing.
Apple Music Radio hosts Zane Lowe, Eddie Francis, and Brooke Reese were scheduled to discuss the news live on-air following the announcement. Apple Music also features Jay-Z’s Road to Halftime, which includes exclusive content, season-long programming, and NFL-created experiences.
Apple Music sponsors the halftime show via a multiyear partnership between the NFL and Roc Nation, and the show has been nominated for several Emmy Awards in recent years.
This year’s Super Bowl LX, featuring Bad Bunny in February, won seven Emmy Awards, the most for any halftime show, including awards for outstanding variety special (live), music direction, directing for a variety special, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design, and technical direction and camerawork.
Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX performance in 2025 became the most-watched halftime show ever and earned four Emmy Nominations, including Outstanding Music Direction.
Usher’s 2024 show received three Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live). Rihanna’s 2023 show earned five Emmy Nominations and won two, including Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, becoming the first halftime show to win that award.
The 2022 show, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, won three Creative Arts Emmys from five nominations, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live), becoming the first halftime show to win that award.
