Lionsgate has decided to boost pre-production of its live-action movie based on the popular manga called Naruto. It has launched a search across the globe for three main characters, who are the young ninjas.
According to Lionsgate and director Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it is time to begin casting Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. These three actors will form Team 7. Other castings will be announced in the near future, the studio said.
Destin Daniel Cretton announced the casting call on social media.
“Kishimoto-sensei’s stories have inspired generations of fans around the world, and it’s an honor to bring his world and characters to the big screen in live action for the very first time,” Cretton said. “I’m thrilled to kick off this worldwide casting search for our Team 7 and to bring the incredible universe of Naruto to life!”
Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Naruto, described the announcement of the adaptation as a miracle for him.
“Right now, miracles are happening to me, one after another. My work, Naruto, is truly, truly becoming a Hollywood movie!” Kishimoto said. “And an even greater miracle is that the film will be directed by the one and only Destin Daniel Cretton. I still cannot believe it!
Kishimoto added that he would love to see new actors who will do justice to the story.
“If so many miracles have already come together, then let us hope for even more,” Kishimoto said. “I am eagerly looking forward to the miraculous encounters that will bring us extraordinary and passionate actors! I cannot wait to meet my characters in the film!”
