The Resident Evil Reboot Just Dropped Its First Teaser

Columbia Pictures has released a teaser for the live-action adaptation of Resident Evil, a new take on the iconic horror franchise that hits theaters on September 18, 2026.

Zach Cregger wrote and directed the movie. His directorial credits include the 2022 horror film Barbarian and the upcoming movie Weapons. Cregger also acts as one of the producers of the movie, alongside Robert Kulzer, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Carter Swan, and Asad Qizilbash.

The movie centers on Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, who finds himself fighting for his life on a fateful night. The plot is action-oriented and presents a new approach compared to other Resident Evil movies, with an entirely different plot.

Zach Cregger and Shay Hatten have written the movie’s screenplay. Amongst others, the cast includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.

The production companies behind the movie include Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film, while TriStar Pictures will handle distribution. Amongst the executive producers are Oliver Berben, Victor Hadida, Richard Wright, and Robert Bernacci.

Resident Evil will premiere in theaters on September 18, 2026.
