A woman has become a viral sensation on TikTok for recounting her encounter with an elderly lady who approached her during lunch and told her that her exercise romper made her a victim of sexual assault.
Lydia Clark Hansen spoke about how she and a friend ate lunch right after a workout session. As she and her friend were eating outside, an elderly couple in their late 70s approached their table.

“She goes, ‘Are you looking to be r*ped?’ And looks at me,” she narrated.
Initially, Hansen assumed that the older woman might have asked for assistance regarding what to order. Upon realizing the offensive nature of her question, the woman continued by saying that her clothes showed that she wanted to be assaulted. Her husband was standing beside her during this, according to Hansen.
“I said to her, ‘You’re wrong, and I’m not interested in hearing your opinion,’ and then walked away,” she said, adding she wished she could have done better.
In the video, Hansen refuted the common stereotype about the role of clothing in cases of rape, citing some statistics she believes show there is no correlation between sexual assault rates and the victim’s outfit.
“If you are a victim, it has nothing to do with what you’re wearing,” she explained.
However, Hansen questioned whether age affects the validity of such statements.
“When do you get a pass? Is it when you hit a certain age? Is it the era you grew up in?” she asked in her video.
She acknowledged that it was understandable why the older generation held certain stereotypes; however, Hansen strongly disagreed with the notion that age could be used as an excuse for ignorance.
“Since when did being old become an excuse to become uneducated?” she stated.
The young woman concluded the video with a wish that she would remain open-minded as she gets older, without offering any unsolicited opinions to people around her.
