Los Angeles-based up-and-coming performer UMI will embark on tour in support of her latest record, people stories, released via Epic Records. Her concerts will begin on June 18 at Blue Note LA and continue with shows at Blue Note NYC as part of the Blue Note Jazz Festival New York between June 24–25 and Blue Note Hawaii in Honolulu from July 3–4.

Ticket sales for the three venues will launch simultaneously at 3 p.m. Eastern time, noon Pacific time, and 9 a.m. Hawaiian time.

UMI’s unique sound, incorporating R&B, neo-soul, and alternative pop, has been widely acclaimed by critics and fans at Pitchfork, Billboard, The Huffington Post, and FLOOD Magazine. According to Clash Magazine, people’s stories “dive into the depth of the human experience and the surprising inner connectedness of our life stories,” being “tender, raw, and anchored in honest emotion.”

Performances in the Big Apple place UMI among other contemporary voices of R&B along with progressive jazz musicians participating in the Blue Note Jazz Festival New York, including musicians MonoNeon, Isaiah Collier, Brian Blade, Chief Adjuah, Marcus Gilmore, and Brandee Younger, as well as singers Ledisi, Durand Bernarr, Big Freedia, Kokoroko, Destin Conrad, and BLK ODYSSY.

The Blue Note Jazz Festival New York takes place in parallel with the Blue Note Jazz Festival Hollywood Bowl, which is organized jointly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, on June 13–14.
