Hulu has released the trailer for the psychological thriller “Deep Water,” starring the former couple Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.
The film is based on Patricia Highsmith celebrated novel “Deep Water” that takes us inside the marriage of picture-perfect Vic (Affleck) and Melinda (de Armas) Van Allen to discover the dangerous mind games they play and what happens to the people that get caught up in them.
From the trailer, I truly feel like I was watching an old school European cuckold forming. Melinda was seen flirting and getting touchy with younger men and Vic didn’t even care, it seems like he enjoys it. The film is getting off “Gone Girl” vibes with the crazy toxic couple that has no business being together. It seems like Melinda is unsatisfied with Vic emotionally and physically. Which causes her to be with other men but instead of Vic leaving or sleeping with other women, he chooses to kill her sexual partners. It comes across as excitement for the both of them.
Directed by Adrian Lyne, who’s well known work is “Fatal Attraction” and “Indecent Proposal,” it seems like he’s up his alley again. The screenplay was done by Zach Helm and Sam Levinson. If Sam Levinson really contributed to the film with his pen, I think the audience should expect some very toxic sh*t that will keep you entertained. Just look at what he did in “Euphoria” season 2. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see a nude scene from Ana de Armas in this film. So far, no background actors have come out to the public to complain about the grueling 16 hour work day. Adrian Lyne and Sam Levinson might be the duo we never knew we needed.
Tracy Letts, Lil Rel Howery, Dash Mihok, Finn Wittrock, Kristen Connolly, Jacob Elordi, Rachel Blanchard, Michael Braun, Jade Fernandez, Grace Jenkins, Brendan C. Miller, Devyn Tyler and Jeff Pope star in the film. The film is produced by Arnon Milchan, Guymon Casady, Benjamin Forkner and Anthony Katagas.
“Deep Water” will debut March 18 exclusively as a Hulu Original in the U.S.
