Prepare to plunge into a world where vengeance knows no bounds, and emotions run as raw as the action. A visual masterpiece that intertwines style with high-octane action, Ballerina will have its world premiere at the 2023 Busan International Film Festival.
At the heart of this gripping narrative is Okju, a woman who risks everything for retribution. Portrayed by Jeon Jong-seo (known for her roles in The Call and Money Heist: Korea Joint Economic Area), Okju is a former bodyguard consumed by her relentless quest to bring down Choi Pro (Kim Ji-hoon), a charmer who caused the tragic demise of her beloved ballerina friend, Minhee (Park Yoo-rim). Helmed by visionary director Lee Chung-hyun and boasting a stellar cast, Ballerina is set to redefine the action-revenge drama genre.
A symphony of contrasts, the trailer pairs Okju’s formidable aura with Minhee’s graceful ballet, all set to a pulsating beat. The narrative takes a dark turn when Okju finds a letter from Minhee, a plea for vengeance. As Okju embarks on her mission, confronting adversaries like Choi, the stakes get higher, and the suspense is palpable.
The main poster showcases the film’s unique aesthetic, dominated by a neon color palette. It features Okju, dressed in ‘Minhee’s’ ballet attire, gun in hand, her gaze unwavering, symbolizing her unyielding resolve. The caption, “Cruel and Merciless to the Very End of Hell,” encapsulates the essence of her journey, setting the stage for an epic tale of revenge.
Ballerina’ comes to Netflix on October 6th.
