Willow Smith has become the first member to achieve one billion Spotify streams for her hit song “…Wait a Minute!” The track, released in 2015 as the second single from her debut album Ardipithecus, has propelled the 23-year-old into the exclusive “Billions Club” alongside artists like The Weeknd, Drake, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift.
Proud father Will Smith celebrated his daughter’s milestone by sharing a photo on Instagram of Willow’s Spotify Artists profile, showcasing the impressive one billion streams. Willow, the youngest and only daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, responded with a heartfelt comment, “love u daddy,” accompanied by a heart emoji.
The Smith family’s deep connection to the music industry is evident, with Will Smith himself having started as a rapper, even earning the first-ever Grammy for Best Rap Performance in 1989 as part of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Jada Pinkett-Smith, too, has a musical background, having been the lead singer of the nu-metal band Wicked Wisdom.
Willow’s achievement further solidifies the family’s musical legacy, and with 12.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, she has secured her place among the industry’s elite. Her second most successful track, “Meet Me At Our Spot” with The Anxiety and Tyler Cole, has also amassed over 500 million streams.
