In a move that could prove to be game-changing, WWE’s developmental brand, WWE NXT, is said to be looking at University of Nebraska track and field standout Meghan Walker as its newest talent.

The Nebraska track star has been spotted this week at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, as part of WWE’s Next In Line™ program, which helps to transition college athletes into professional wrestling through the groundbreaking Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiative.

Walker wasn’t alone, as a few more elite collegiate athletes in the persons of Grace Stephens, Momen Zahid, Adam Berghorst, and Skyla Schulte also joined. The visit furthers WWE’s focus on recruiting talent from diverse athletic backgrounds as the Next In Line™ program continues to scout top-level athletes.

Fueling the speculation, Walker took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a selfie clad in WWE-branded gear with the caption, “Any WWE fans?” The post went viral in less than a day, racking up over 180,000 views and causing a stir among fans about her probable move to the squared circle.

Meghan Walker’s Track & Field Achievements

Walker has built an impressive résumé during her time as a Husker, showcasing her speed and versatility in both indoor and outdoor events:

  • 2024 Indoor Season: She contributed to top relay finishes at the Big Ten Championships, including an eighth-place result in the distance medley and 4x400m relays. Individually, she placed 14th in the 400m with a time of 55.04 and ran a personal-best 200m time of 25.05 at the Nebraska Tune-Up.
  • 2024 Outdoor Season: Walker continued her strong performances, placing 13th in the 400m at the Big Ten Championships and helping set a school-record sprint medley relay at the Drake Relays. She also contributed to multiple top relay finishes at prestigious events like the Florida Relays and Jim Click Shootout.
  • 2023 Highlights: As a member of the 4x400m relay team, Walker competed in the Big Ten Indoor Championships and excelled in outdoor events, finishing as the 400m runner-up at the KSU Ward Haylett and contributing to a winning 4x100m relay.

From Track to the WWE Ring?

Walker’s transition from the track to a potential wrestling career is not far-fetched. WWE’s NIL program has already seen success in recruiting college athletes and helping them make the leap to professional wrestling. With her athleticism, competitive spirit, and growing popularity online, Walker could become a major star in the WWE universe.

Neither WWE nor Walker has confirmed an official signing, but fans are already speculating about her potential debut in WWE NXT. If she joins, Meghan Walker could follow in the footsteps of other successful athletes who have transitioned into the world of sports entertainment.

Stay tuned for more updates on Walker’s journey from track and field to the WWE ring.
