For alleged sexual misconduct by an authority figure, the principal of a Florida preparatory school got arrested.
43-year-old Tracy Smith, the head of XCEED Preparatory Academy, got taken into custody in connection with allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct on April 17th, according to arrest records.
Police have not confirmed whether any XCEED Preparatory Academy students or, more specifically, whether Coral Springs campus students were involved in the alleged incident, according to NBC Miami.
A spokesperson for XCEED Preparatory Academy issued a statement on Tuesday to express how shocked they were by the news.
“The allegations resulting in Ms. Smith’s arrest yesterday came as a complete shock to everyone at the school. The school and its staff will cooperate with law enforcement in every way possible. A safe learning environment is paramount at XCEED – with no exceptions,” the statement read.
Tracy Smith was given a $25,000 bond and ordered not to have any contact with the victim, not to return to the school, and not to have any contact with any minors other than family members during a court hearing on Tuesday.
According to Tracy Smith’s profile on the school’s website, she has nearly 20 years of experience as an instructor, academic coach, and administrator in public and private schools. Recent social media and website posts about her schoolwork appear to have got removed.
