Yara Shahidi: The Leader of the Next Generation

Yara Shahidi is only 18 years old and she is already revered as one of the most important figures on the planet. She is best known for her roles on Blackish and Grownish but when she’s not on set, she’s making an impact to our society. Yara speaks out for the younger generation, women, and African American community. She is not afraid to use her platform to speak out about the injustices and police brutality in America. Yara is encouraging everyone to go vote this midterm election as well.

She is the founder of Eighteen x 18 with social news publisher NowThis, which is platform to encourage her peers to vote for the very first time in our upcoming midterm elections. Her other organizations include Yara’s Club a partnership with Young Women’s Leadership Network (YWLN) of New York, which provides online mentorship in hopes to end poverty through education.

Yara receives support from some of the biggest icons today. Michelle Obama wrote her letter recommendation to get into Harvard University. Teen Vogue also gave her the opportunity to interview Hillary Clinton back in 2017. She also received Oprah endorsement to run for president when she is old enough.

She is also being honored for a Girl Hero award. She is rewriting at a young age. Yara Shahidi is one of Generation Z’s most prominent stars. And there’s more to her than you might think.
