White Woman Lists Three Behaviors She Says Signal An ‘Ignorant White Person’

A TikTok user identifying herself as Kylie Brewer posted a video titled “3 signs you’re an ignorant wh!te person,” in which she describes three behaviors she says show ignorance among white people.

In the video, Brewer names denial of systemic racism, defensiveness and colorblind ideology as the three signs. She addresses the video to a white audience and says she is speaking as a white person herself.

“Hi, my name is Kylie, and here are three signs you’re an ignorant white person. Number one, denying systemic racism. If you personally don’t think that systemic racism is real, and you continue to say, oh, no, everyone has individual experiences, and it’s your personal choices that determine where you end up in life, you’re an ignorant white person because you’re ignoring things like the school to prison pipeline, over policing, the way that drugs were intentionally introduced into communities.

“Number two, defensiveness. But this is also called white fragility. If you are called out for racism, if you’re called out for prejudice, say sorry. Stop getting defensive and saying, well, actually, I didn’t do anything wrong. You’re wrong, because that is completely counterproductive and also shows your level of ignorance.

“And number three, using colorblind ideology. No, I don’t see race. It’s okay. I don’t care if you’re black, white, yellow, or purple, because, yes, you probably do, because you have been raised in America to see race and to see color at every possible instance. This takes a lot of work to deconstruct these things.

“So, again, if people are bringing these things to your attention, it is your job to internalize them and say sorry, to learn from it, to grow from it, to educate yourself. That’s why I’m here as another white person, to educate you, because I know that people of color. F***ing tired. So do the work. Bye, y’all,” Brewer said.

Brewer ends the video by telling viewers to do the work.
