Video has been released of a Fresno, CA police officer shooting 16yo Isiah Murrietta-Golding in the back of the head as the teen ran away from police through a daycare in April 2017. His family has filed a lawsuit claiming the officer violated their son’s civil rights. The officer who shot him claims he feared for his life because he thought Golding might have been reaching for a gun in his waistband. Golding didn’t have warrants but the officers say they thought he might have been involved in a homicide the day before.
“The officer was claiming he was fearful for his life? How is it a 16 teen year old teen running away posing a threat?”-Aaron Frisby, Community Advocate The City’s Office of Independent Review found the shooting within policy saying “The reasonableness of force is based on the officer making a split second decision after observing the suspect reaching for his waistband area several times during the foot pursuit.” The video is disturbing. We can’t have trigger happy police officers roaming our streets, gunning down our kids. Isiah was murder. There is no justification for this shooting. We need to demand justice. A vote for Dyer will be a vote in favor of his policies that place our youth at risk. You have the power to change the status quo. Resist Dyer and his election machine. Organize, protest, call him out, and call out organizations and churches that support him. Register to vote and vote in march!(1/2) EXCLUSIVE: Action News has obtained video of a Fresno police officer shooting a 16-year-old boy, Isiah Murrietta-Golding, in the back of the head as the teen ran away from police in April 2017. pic.twitter.com/Tnimp3bo1C
