Lafayette Parish authorities arrested 37-year-old Janet Irvin in the suspicious of 15-year-old Quawan Charles. Irvin has been charged with failure of reporting a missing child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Iberia Parish.
On the evening of October 30th, Quawan Charles was last seen leaving a family home in Baldwin, Louisiana. Charles was picked up by his 17-year-old friend and his mother, Gavin and Janet Irvin, around 3 p.m. while his father was at a store.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement the boy’s body was found around 5 p.m. on November 2nd in a rural area off Ed Broussard Road near the village of Loreauville.
An initial autopsy report indicated that that drowning appeared to be the most likely cause of death, but a full autopsy report released Monday by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office said Charles may have had a psychotic episode and committed suicide by drowning himself.
Attorney for Charles’ family called that finding ridiculous.
We have been calling for this since we learned about the disappearance and death of Quawan Charles. Today police finally arrested Janet Irvin for her role in the death of this 15 year old child.
