A total of six arrests have been made in Brazil, following the death of a 21-year-old woman on a bungee jumping expedition near a place referred to as ‘Skeleton Bridge‘ in São Paulo.
The 21-year-old was studying physical education and sports management at university.
It is confirmed she died at the scene after falling from the structure; she was attended to by rescuers, including the help of a rescue helicopter, but the aid could not help the young woman, and her fiancé, who was there to witness her bungee jump, raced to be by her side.
Police confirmed that three men and three women involved in the operation were detained. Of the six, three have been investigated and will be brought before a court accused of homicide by conditional intent. This type of charge is brought when a person is believed to have knowingly engaged in a risky activity which could result in another’s death.
The authorities say two suspects were seen attempting to run into the forest after the girl had fallen; they were captured with the aid of the police helicopter.
The deceased had apparently posted excited messages regarding the upcoming bungee jump on social media sites before she went on the adventure.
The authorities have confirmed the investigation is still underway.
