72-Year-Old Black Woman Found Hanging From Tree in Annapolis, Police Suspect No Foul Play

An elderly black woman was found hanging from a tree in Annapolis, Maryland on November 4th. The Annapolis Police Department suspects no foul play into the woman’s death. The police department also revealed the victim’s identity is being withheld pending confirmation that the extended family has been notified.

Police found the body around 7:30am on the 600 block of Belle Drive for the report of an unattended death. When officers arrived they immediately took down the body because it was near a bus stop that serves for the students at Mills-Parole Elementary School and Annapolis Middle School.

Many students saw the woman body while heading to school. Richard Rogers and Casey Hunt, principals at Mills-Parole Elementary and Annapolis Middle School wrote a letter out to parents speaking on the situation.

“While walking to the bus stop this morning, some students may have witnessed a tragic scene involving the death of an adult individual.”

Anne Arundel County public school officials alerted counselors at Mills-Parole Elementary, Annapolis Middle School and Annapolis High School to speak with students who were impacted by the scene and monitor their well-being. Additional counselors responded to schools that only have one.
