Angel Reese Makes History as First Rookie in Draft Class to Reach 100 Points, 100 Rebounds

The Chicago Sky’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun, (who holds the best record in the WNBA) on Tuesday night turned into a showcase for rookie phenom Angel Reese, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the red-hot Sun. Despite a dominant performance from Reese, the Sky fell short with a final score of 83-75.

Reese put together a stat line that any veteran player would be proud of, tallying 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist. Her efficiency was on point as well, shooting a remarkable 8-for-10 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. This wasn’t just a one-game outburst for Reese; it cemented her status as the top rookie in the WNBA this season.

The 2024 draft pick became the first rookie this year to eclipse the mark of 100 points and 100 rebounds. Her dominance extends far beyond those two statistics. Reese currently leads all rookies in points, rebounds, steals, Player Efficiency Rating (PER), Offensive Rating, Win Shares, and double-doubles.

While Reese’s individual brilliance was a bright spot for the Sky, the team was unable to capitalize and secure the win.The loss drops their record to 4-7 and leaves them searching for answers in a competitive Eastern Conference. The Sky will need to find ways to support Reese’s efforts and translate her dominance into team victories.

Angel Reese just had a 20 point, 10 rebound double-double on 80% shooting from the field against the team with the best record in the WNBA. She does more than “just get rebounds”.

Angel Reese balled out tonight. 8-10 shooting against the best defense in the WNBA. Her teammates had one of her usual shooting nights though.

When you realize Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese is really Angelica and Susie all grown up. Angelica thought she was that girl but in reality Susie was actually that girl.
