The adult entertainment industry is mourning the death of seasoned performer Amara Romani, who died last Friday at a Los Angeles hospital, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office for the County of Los Angeles. Romani, 30, had been a well-known figure in the industry since her debut in 2015.
While the official cause of her death is unknown, friends and family who have expressed their grief on social media believe it was the result of a drug overdose. Romani’s career in adult films was prolific, with approximately 282 credited scenes in various capacities, earning her nominations and recognition, including an AVN Award nomination for Best Girl/Girl Sex Scene in 2017.
Romani’s diverse portfolio included collaborations with notable studios such as Reality Kings, Brazzers, Nubiles, Evil Angel, and Jules Jordan Video. Her father, a coroner in her home state of Pennsylvania, confirmed her death. He detailed her longstanding struggles with mental health conditions and substance abuse in a heartfelt Facebook post.
“Every person and family have been affected, either directly or indirectly, by mental health problems as well as drug and alcohol addiction,” he wrote. “No one is exempt.”
Mark Schechter, owner of ATMLA, expressed his sadness at Amara Romani’s sudden passing, stating, “My staff and I at ATMLA are saddened to hear of Amara’s sudden passing. We represented her for a short time from 2017-2018. An outstanding performer, who always strived to be her best. Our condolences go out to Amara’s family and friends. RIP Amara, we will all miss you.”
Romani is survived by her family and leaves behind a son, who is now in the care of his father. The untimely death of this industry veteran draws attention not only to her contributions in the adult entertainment world, but also to the pervasive challenges of mental health and substance abuse that affect people from all walks of life.
