In a recent Instagram post, 37-year-old actress Amber Heard opened up about her performance in the much-anticipated Aquaman 2. Sharing a series of photos on Wednesday, Heard expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from her fans in reprising the role of Mera.
“After all this time, Aquaman 2 made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy),” she began. “Thank you to all of my fans for the overwhelming support and love in Mera’s AQ return. Thank you so much.”
While fans showered her with affection, the movie’s critical reception tells a different story. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom currently holds a 35% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, juxtaposed with a more favorable 81% audience score.
Despite the mixed reviews, Heard remains appreciative of her fans’ backing. The sequel, however, faced another setback as it failed to make the splash at the box office that was hoped for.
Jason Momoa, who may have donned the Aquaman suit for the last time in this film, leaves the door open for speculation about the character’s future. Although Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom did not meet box office expectations, Momoa’s departure from the role might not be as final as it seems.
