Shannon Elizabeth has finalized her divorce from husband Simon Borchert several weeks after confirming their split, reports Page Six on Monday.
“Today isn’t about the end of a marriage,” Elizabeth explained in her statement. “There are moments in life when you realize that letting go can be exhilarating, that closing one chapter creates space for an entirely new one, and stepping into that feels incredibly liberating.”
Elizabeth says she will be “embracing what the future holds with an open heart and clear vision” because she has “never been more inspired, creative and aligned with my authentic self.”
Actress Elizabeth, best known for starring in the 1999 movie “American Pie,” had been married to conservation specialist Borchert, a native of South Africa, for five years after they met in 2015 and got engaged in 2021.
Earlier this month, the actress revealed that they had “been separated since September.”
