The footage, which has amassed over 700,000 views on X, shows the mayor speaking to her citizens about the roads and other infrastructure projects in a rural town. The camera remains behind her as she speaks, while others record the moment.
One of the users who pointed out this video shot on X was @bbien2cafe. She was one of the few people who noticed the shot and joked that the cameraman was “freco,” a Spanish slang term for cheeky or bold, because of the repeated shots of the mayor wearing tight jeans.
Most comments from viewers were comedic.
“The cameraman knows exactly what he’s doing,” one viewer said. Another one stated, “She definitely gets my vote.” A third viewer commented humorously, “Maybe I should consider getting into politics.” A fourth one added, “It was his job to do, and he did it brilliantly.”
Santo Domingo Norte Mayor Betty Gerónimo Santana earned her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations at Universidad del Caribe with Cum Laude honors. She also completed graduate studies in Public Law and Municipal and Public Administration at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, in collaboration with Liga Municipal Dominicana.
As an elected deputy from 2020 to 2024, Gerónimo Santana received the most votes in her municipality. During her tenure as deputy, she served as vice-president of the Permanent Commission on Culture and president of the Dominican-Chinese Parliamentary Friendship Group.
She is the founder and president of the non-profit organization, Fundación Pasos, established over 12 years ago. Her foundation offers programs for children with disabilities and other marginalized populations. Additionally, she is an international trade businesswoman who connects the Dominican Republic with China, Panama, and Los Angeles.
The mayor has not made any comment regarding the viral video.
