Australian sister-and-brother duo Angus & Julia Stone have opened a brand-new chapter in their lives. They’ve recently dropped their dreamy new single entitled “Karaoke Bar” and shared news about their seventh studio album, titled “Karaoke Bar.” The latter will be officially released on September 4th.
This could easily become their brightest chapter ever.
In fact, the “Karaoke Bar” was composed while they were living on the Greek island of Hydra, near Leonard Cohen’s former home. This song captures the feeling of getting into a cozy late-night karaoke place and creating lifelong memories. The lyrics talk about strangers singing, walls breaking down, and unforgettable moments happening before closing time.
“It was a magical time on one of the strangest and most beautiful islands we’ve ever been to,” Angus says.
Meanwhile, Julia adds that the karaoke bar is the only place where people can speak loudly. In her opinion, such a place becomes the place where people sing along with strangers, and all their differences vanish at least for the period of an hour.
These emotions are also featured throughout the entire album called “Karaoke Bar,” recorded in Greece, France, and Australia. It was mentioned that this project could be called “light and wide,” preserving the intimacy and cinematic nature of their previous works.
According to the available information, the album features many songs associated with different countries around the world. Some of them include Take Me Back to Japan, Mexico City, Cowgirl Lover Boi, and Celestial Bodies, all of which create the impression of an indie film soundtrack.
The full tracklist looks as follows:
- “Karaoke Bar”
- “Monroe”
- “Celestial Bodies”
- “The Start”
- “Strangely Strangely”
- “Brightest Place”
- “Take Me Back to Japan”
- “Cowgirl Lover Boi”
- “The Cherry Farm”
- “Mexico City”
Overall, this release offers listeners to dance, cry, sing along with strangers, and even experience love for several minutes. Could anything else be better than this?
