A former substitute teacher of Catawba County Schools pleaded guilty to charges of indecent liberties with a minor and was handed down a prison term ranging from 20 to 33 months, according to court papers.

According to the New York Post, Katelyn Dawn Schronce pleaded guilty before the Catawba County Superior Court. As part of her sentence, she is also banned from contacting the 15-year-old child who was her victim.

Schronce was arrested back in April 2025 on statutory rape charges, where the victim involved was below the age of 15.

It should be noted that when Schronce was arrested, Catawba County Schools issued a statement clarifying that the arrest had nothing to do with her job as a substitute teacher in the school district.
