Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made light-hearted remarks on Tuesday about President Donald Trump’s remarks regarding Virginia’s redistricting vote. She told a reporter that she was “so sorry for his heartbreak” and that Democrats stand to gain many seats in the coming election cycle.

Voters in Virginia approved a constitutional amendment on Monday, which passed with 51.5% of the vote. It will enable temporary new congressional maps that could help Democrats take several U.S. House seats in the 2026 midterm elections.

When Pablo Reports inquired about her views on Trump’s reaction to the news, Ocasio-Cortez was succinct.

“I’m so sorry for his heartbreak at this present moment,” she said. “And I look forward to adding two, or rather 10, new Democratic colleagues in November.”

On the other hand, Trump commented on Truth Social, stating that the process was “rigged” due to the late “massive Mail-In Ballot Drop,” which changed the results after Republicans initially were ahead.

A clip of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was shared on social media, eliciting a range of reactions.

“Something tells me she’s not really sorry,” one user commented.

“AOC is so thrilled by this. Same! I’m enjoying watching liberals punch back against fascism,” another wrote.

And a third user stated, “That’s my president.”
