Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said FBI Director Kash Patel’s public behavior is a potential national security threat, warning that his conduct could make him vulnerable to blackmail by foreign actors.

In an interview with PabloReports, Ocasio-Cortez was asked whether Patel’s sobriety or lack thereof posed a security risk.

“Absolutely,” she said.

Ocasio-Cortez pointed to Patel’s behavior following the men’s Olympic ice hockey championship as cause for concern, saying he was seen throwing beer bottles in the air.

“It’s not just embarrassing. It’s a person who is easily manipulated,” she said. “If he’s conducting himself in this compromised way in public, especially in a position like the FBI, when you are acting crazy, you are creating opportunities for blackmail and compromise” by malign actors.

Ocasio-Cortez called for Patel’s removal, saying he “should be out of that seat.”
