The trailer for “The New Look,” a captivating historical drama series set in Nazi-occupied Paris during WWII, has been released on Apple TV+. Todd A. Kessler’s 10-episode series follows the lives of iconic fashion designers Christian Dior and Coco Chanel, played by Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche. The global premiere is set for February 14, 2024, with subsequent episodes released every Wednesday through April 3.

“The New Look” delves into the pivotal moment when Paris, through the lens of Christian Dior’s revolutionary designs, re-energized the world during WWII. The story delves into the challenges Dior and his contemporaries faced, including competitors such as Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, and Cristóbal Balenciaga. The series provides an engrossing look into Christian Dior’s atelier and collaborative process behind his iconic designs.

The ensemble cast, led by Maisie Williams as “Catherine Dior,” John Malkovich as “Lucien Lelong,” Emily Mortimer as “Elsa Lombardi,” Claes Bang as “Spatz,” and Glenn Close as “Carmel Snow,” add depth to the immersive storytelling.

The contemporary soundtrack curated and produced by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff is one of the highlights of “The New Look.” The soundtrack, which features covers of early to mid-twentieth-century songs by artists such as Bleachers, Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey, and others, adds to the series’ modern appeal.

“The New Look,” produced by Apple Studios and DB-AK Productions, is a testament to Todd A. Kessler’s vision, as he writes, executive produces, and directs. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark A. Baker also serve as executive producers, promising a visually stunning and emotionally moving exploration of fashion, resilience, and creativity during a turbulent historical period.
