Born Marcel Theo Hall, Biz Markie was a pioneering figure in the 1980’s New York City rap scene whose career went on to span almost three decades. He is widely known for the 1989 platinum hit single “Just a Friend” which reached number 9 on the Billboard charts and affectionately earned him the nickname the “Clown Prince of Hip-Hop”. To remember the life of the beloved entertainer, BET will air “BET REMEMBERS BIZ MARKIE – A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR MARCEL THEO HALL” – featuring LIVE coverage of his memorial service TODAY, August 2 at 2:00p.m. ET on BET’s YouTube channel.
