Prime Video is about to serve you style, scandal, and sabotage on a silver platter. Mark your calendars and cancel your plans, because Another Simple Favor premieres globally on May 1, 2025, and trust us, you’ll want to RSVP. Directed by Paul Feig and featuring the return of everyone’s favorite high-glam chaos duo, this sequel to the 2018 cult thriller comedy isn’t just a movie, it’s an event.

Welcome back to the world of martinis, murder, and mysterious disappearances. Except this time, we’ve traded suburban Connecticut for the lavish coastline of Capri, Italy, and things are somehow even messier.

A Wedding in Capri, What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

The plot? Oh, just your average destination wedding with a few minor complications like lies, secrets, betrayal, and murder. Emily Nelson, played to divine perfection by Blake Lively, is getting married. Yes, again. And yes, she’s freshly out of prison. Some girls get a facial after jail time. Emily throws a wedding on the cliffs of Italy.

Her new fiancé? A very rich, very Italian businessman played by international heartthrob Michele Morrone. Of course, she invites her “dear friend” Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick), who has traded in vlogging for a more stable life. Naturally, she agrees to be the maid of honor. Because who says no to a wedding in Capri? Especially when it’s hosted by a potential sociopath in couture.

But as the guests arrive, draped in designer threads and personal agendas, murder crashes the party. What follows is a spiraling series of twists, reveals, and stunning costume changes. It’s The White Lotus meets Knives Out, with an espresso martini in hand and stilettos on cobblestones.

The Cast Is Stacked and the Drama Is Double Shaken

Reuniting alongside Lively and Kendrick are Henry Golding and Andrew Rannells, adding their signature charm and mischief to the madness. But this sequel is going bigger, bolder, and far more fabulous.

We’re also getting fresh blood in the form of

  • Michele Morrone (365 Days) as the suspiciously perfect groom
  • Elena Sofia Ricci as the Italian mother-in-law from hell
  • Alex Newell bringing vibrato and vibes
  • Elizabeth Perkins, always iconic, always a little dangerous
  • Allison Janney, because every classy caper needs a shady government type or overqualified auntie

Honestly, this cast could read the phone book and we’d still show up. But give them a script filled with double-crosses, dead bodies, and biting wit? We’re eating.

A Paul Feig Production, Darling

The film is directed and produced by Paul Feig, whose signature mix of slick visuals and razor-sharp comedy once again elevates the genre. It’s giving Gone Girl but make it glossy. Feig produces alongside Laura Fischer, with executive producers Jennifer Booth, Jessica Sharzer, and Marco Valerio Pugini making sure every scene is dripping in decadence and danger.

The script, written by Jessica Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis, continues to build on the original characters created by Darcey Bell, but now with an international twist. Think less PTA meeting, more poison in the prosecco.

From SXSW Applause to Prime Video Glam

The film made its world premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Festival and audiences lost their minds in the best way. Critics praised the sequel for its elevated stakes, delicious performances, and the sheer indulgence of watching beautiful people do terrible things in beautiful places.

If the trailer is any indication, we’re in for

  • Glorious gowns
  • Suspiciously timed toasts
  • Jet-setting mayhem
  • And a very high body count

All of it wrapped in Paul Feig’s pristine, pastel-soaked aesthetic and set to a soundtrack that screams rich and ready to ruin your life.

The Girls Are Back and They’re Not Playing Nice

At its core, Another Simple Favor is about the toxic magnetism between two women who should absolutely stay away from each other but simply can’t. Stephanie and Emily are a walking masterclass in chaos chemistry. And Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively clearly had a ball returning to their roles because the banter? Immaculate. The tension? Thick. The outfits? Unreasonably chic.

Emily remains the woman you’re lowkey obsessed with and highkey terrified of. And Stephanie? Still just trying to keep up while unraveling a murder plot in heels. It’s twisted, it’s witty, and it’s a little unhinged. In other words, perfection.

Watch the Trailer and Prepare Accordingly

The official trailer is out now and it’s already setting the internet ablaze. Capes are flying, drinks are being thrown, and somewhere in the background, someone’s screaming. We’ll let you decide if it’s in delight or terror.
