Detectives are investigating hypotheses of murder and brutal death following the finding of a dead 36-year-old woman stuffed into a suitcase within an apartment rented through a short-term housing website, according to police.
The corpse belongs to Natalia Villalba Angarita, originally from Cucuta, and the CTI, the investigative body within the Attorney’s Office, has handled the case.
The victim was discovered midday Monday in a home on Calle 95, police officials explained, and a cleaning crew entered the apartment to find her stuffed inside a grey suitcase and hidden in the bathroom. Authorities reported that the shower was still running when she was discovered.
Villalba had been a tenant in the apartment since June 3rd and initially paid for a few days, then requested an extension of her stay until the 21st of this month, according to police records.
Police are currently trying to ascertain which foreign individuals had recent contact with the victim. One American was present at the house in the first few days of her lodging, from the 3rd to the 7th of June.
A British citizen is believed to have entered the apartment last Wednesday and stayed for 24 hours. Fingerprints, tracing, and other types of materials have been collected to identify the two suspects and to establish any involvement in the woman’s death.
The young woman was a model, according to information gathered by investigators and from her public social media pages, who had found documents revealing recent trips in Europe, particularly to Spain.
The CTI continues to accumulate material to establish the details that led to the woman’s demise in the capital.
