“TOY STORY 5” kicked off with franchise record grosses of $312 million, beating the earlier one set by the franchise in its 31-year history.
The movie grossed $160 million in North America and $152 million internationally in its opening weekend.
This performance marks the best opening of 2026 so far and the second-best opening weekend of all time for an animated film.
Several films were maintaining their momentum at the box office.
“Michael” has raked in more than $959 million worldwide and may cross the $1 billion mark, becoming the first biographical film to do so.
“Obsession,” which cost only $750,000, has grossed more than $333 million worldwide and could conclude with grosses of $390 million to $420 million.
“Scary Movie,” which had a $30 million budget, has crossed the $200 million mark globally.
“Disclosure Day,” which had a $115 million budget, has grossed more than $160 million worldwide and may conclude with grosses of $250 million to $280 million.
