Cristin Milioti, who plays Sofia Falcone in HBO’s upcoming The Penguin, has expressed her enthusiasm about a potential on-screen partnership with Zoë Kravitz’s Selina Kyle (Catwoman) in The Batman Part II. Speaking with Deadline at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, Milioti was asked about the possibility of working alongside Kravitz’s character in the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman (2022).

“I would love that,” Milioti said. “I love her, and I think we could really get into some real shit.”

Her response has ignited excitement among fans, especially since both Sofia Falcone and Selina Kyle share deep connections to Gotham’s criminal underworld.

How The Penguin Sets Up Sofia Falcone’s Future

Milioti’s role as Sofia Falcone in The Penguin—the Max limited series starring Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot—will introduce her as the daughter of Carmine Falcone, the late crime boss who was assassinated in The Batman. As a key figure in Gotham’s power struggle, Sofia is expected to be a major force in the series, competing against Cobblepot for control of the city’s criminal empire.

Interestingly, The Penguin is already laying the groundwork for Sofia’s connection to Selina Kyle. The show’s finale reportedly features Sofia receiving a letter from her half-sister, Selina Kyle, which teases a deeper exploration of their family ties in the broader Batman universe.

This development suggests that Sofia and Selina may cross paths in The Batman Part II, either as allies or rivals—adding another layer of complexity to Gotham’s shifting power dynamics.

Zoë Kravitz’s Acclaimed Portrayal of Catwoman

Zoë Kravitz’s performance as Selina Kyle in The Batman was widely praised for bringing depth, charisma, and emotional weight to the iconic antihero. Her take on the character was described as a “fighter and survivor with a loyal heart and a strong sense of what’s right,” making her one of the film’s standout performances.

By the end of The Batman, Selina left Gotham, uncertain about her future, but the seeds for her return were already planted. Given her past with Carmine Falcone—who she discovered was her biological father—it would make narrative sense for Selina and Sofia to cross paths, potentially exploring their shared lineage and its consequences.

What This Could Mean for The Batman Part II

While official plot details for The Batman Part II remain tightly under wraps, Milioti’s comments and the setup in The Penguin suggest that Sofia Falcone could have a significant role in the next chapter of Matt Reeves’ Gotham saga. If Sofia and Selina were to join forces, it could lead to a compelling storyline where they either challenge Gotham’s new crime boss or find themselves at odds due to conflicting goals.

With The Batman Part II slated for release in October 2026, fans will have to wait to see how this potential team-up unfolds. Meanwhile, The Penguin is expected to premiere in late 2025, serving as a crucial bridge between The Batman and its sequel.

Expanding the Gotham Universe

The idea of Sofia Falcone and Selina Kyle working together—or even facing off—adds a fresh dynamic to Gotham’s growing mythology in Matt Reeves’ universe. The crime-driven drama of The Penguin and the noir-inspired storytelling of The Batman have already distinguished this version of Gotham as a richly detailed and immersive world.

As discussions around The Batman Part II continue, Milioti’s enthusiasm for teaming up with Kravitz suggests that the franchise could explore new character dynamics and relationships, adding further intrigue to Gotham’s ever-evolving landscape.

Until then, fans can look forward to The Penguin’s release and the next chapter of Gotham’s dark and compelling saga.
