Max Steiner, a candidate for the US Congress, has been accused of assaulting a 13-year-old Palestinian girl after a video of him destroying a “Free Gaza” message on a sand dune gained widespread attention on social media.
According to KION, the three girls disclosed that they inscribed the phrase “Free Gaza” on the sand dune as a means of expressing their support for their people during an ongoing conflict with Israel.
Steiner, who had just written the “Free Gaza” message, allegedly approached the three girls shortly afterward. He was captured on camera tampering with the message and accusing them of “supporting terrorism.” According to the girls, the situation became even more frightening when Steiner discovered that the youngest among them, a 13-year-old girl, was recording him.
One of the unidentified girls reported that he approached her from behind, with one arm around her neck and another around her waist. The assailant forcefully shook her in an attempt to take her phone. Despite the efforts of the recorder and her sisters to resist him, they were unable to make any progress. Eventually, he managed to snatch the phone and released his grip on her. He then proceeded to throw the phone, which ended up hitting the bike path.

After the viral video circulated on social media, Max Steiner addressed the incident on Facebook. In his statement, he admitted to throwing the phone but maintained that neither party made physical contact with each other.

The three girls denied damaging his bike and stated that they held no animosity towards their Jewish counterparts.
The incident between Steiner and three Palestinian girls is being investigated by the Sand City Police.
Steiner, a Democratic candidate, lost the 2022 election for the US House in California’s 1st Congressional District.
