The family of a Mississippi teen who was shot and killed outside a Clarksdale residence on Monday night believes that the teen’s relationship with the shooter’s daughter contributed to his demise.
Cornelius McGee Jr., 15, was shot and killed on Monday in Clarksdale by a former police officer who was upset that the teen was dating his daughter, according to the boy’s mother, Jacqueline Rash.
Jacqueline Rash, McGee Jr.’s mother, told Fox 13 Memphis that the shooter was upset that her son was having a consensual relationship with his daughter. She went on to say that the man had previously warned McGee Jr. not to visit her at his home. She claimed that the former officer’s daughter let the teen boy in through a bedroom window.
Upon learning that McGee Jr. was at his house on Monday with his daughter, Rash claimed that the teen tried to flee, but the man shot him in the back as he was trying to jump over the man’s fence.
According to Police Chief Robbie Linley, the investigation was turned over to the MBI due to a conflict with someone in his agency. He refused to provide any additional information.
An MBI spokesperson, however, stated that the shooting was not considered officer-involved at this time.
“More information may be released when available. At this time, no further comment will be made,” said MBI spokesperson Bailey C. Martin.
The shooter has been identified as Andrew Bankhead, a former Mississippi police officer, according to Newsone. According to USA Today, the city of Clarksdale posted documents indicating that a police department employee with the same name resigned on April 10th.
There have been no arrests in the death of Cornelius McGee Jr., a 15-year-old boy.

How is not in jail already?
Because this whole story is a lie… the former officer doesn’t have a daughter and the kid was stealing rifles from the house so the cop shot him INSIDE THE HOUSE.
How do you know this? Are u going off of what the shooters brother is saying? Or are u just talking? Because one who would make up a story about a daughter if there isn’t one? 2nd who is crazy enough to break into a police officers home, and you live right by the police, 3rd the house has cameras all around it, including on the inside, but they won’t release the video. So, I ask you again, how do you know what you are saying is fact?
I remember when I was coming up I use to sneak boys in my room ,if they were caught never would my Dad or Mom shoot them in the back while they’re running away 😤 you can’t cry burglary cause he was invited by daughter, and this sounds like race was the factor in which he was shot‼️ this is murder plain and simple 😡 if you were incense you could of went to the young man’s home tell his parents and all is said and done but to take a life is senseless and traumatic to the parents and your own child dummy😤💔
There is no daughter, the shooter has no children.
He was stealing guns from the home while the owner was in the shower, so he shot him inside the house and the kid died after running outside.
Once again how do you know, what you are saying is true? I hope you have inside knowledge and not just blowing crap outta your tail pipe, because you heard that one story from the police officers brother.
