Did George R.R. Martin Diss Stan Lee?

George R.R. Martin recently pondered his relation to the Game of Thrones universe in comparison to other creators like Stan Lee and George Lucas, determining that he never wants to completely forfeit creative control.

Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin spoke on Stan Lee’s control of Marvel Comics: “He had no power, no influence. He wasn’t writing any stories. He couldn’t say, ‘Don’t do this character.’ He was just a friendly person they brought to conventions and who did cameos” told The Hollywood Reporter.

Martin is currently receiving backlash for his comments on social media after people think he disrespected Stan Lee with his latest comments.
