The heartwarming story Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens will be coming soon to Netflix globally. Directed by Lucky Kuswandi (Selamat Pagi, Malam, Galih dan Ratna) and written by Gina S. Noer (Keluarga Cemara, Dua Garis Biru), the film is a story of discovering that family is not just a one-way street, and pursuing dreams against the backdrop of Queens in New York.
One of Indonesia’s brightest young stars, Iqbaal Ramadhan, plays the role of Ali, a 19-year old who decides to leave Jakarta for New York to find his long-lost mother. He ends up encountering four extremely fun and colorful Indonesian immigrants living in Queens, played by veterans Nirina Zubir as Party, Asri Welas as Biyah, Tika Panggabean as Ance, and Happy Salma as Chinta. Together with Ance’s daughter Eva, played by rising star Aurora Ribero, they help Ali discover the true meaning of family. Rounding up the Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens cast are Marissa Anita, Bayu Skak, Cut Mini Theo and Ibnu Jamil.
“Ali’s journey is a poignant reminder, especially during these times, that ‘home is a feeling’. We’re excited to partner with Netflix to bring Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens to a global audience and hope that this heartwarming story will touch the hearts of others who are also on a journey to discover the meaning of family,” said director Lucky.
