Disney debuted the official trailer for “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” on Thursday during “Good Morning America,” giving fans their first full look at the next chapter of the popular franchise ahead of its July premiere.
The film premieres Thursday, July 16, on Disney Channel and the following day on Disney+. The trailer’s debut was accompanied by a first look at the film’s poster and a special recording of the song “Mad-Wicked Wonderland.”
In the new story, life seems perfect for Red and Chloe now that the Queen of Hearts is nice and Cinderella is safe. But the two soon learn that changing the past created a new villain, Maddox Hatter. When Maddox captures the Queen of Hearts, Red and Chloe must team up with Red’s new sister Pink, Luisa Madrigal’s son Luis, Captain Hook’s daughter Hazel, and Maddox’s son Max to save her and Wonderland.
Also released Thursday was “Mad-Wicked Wonderland,” the latest single from the movie’s soundtrack. Continuing Disney’s tradition of villain anthems, the track gives fans their first taste of what threatens Wonderland. It follows “Perfect Princess,” which generated more than 12.36 million impressions across owned social platforms in its first five days.
The “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” original soundtrack, which features more new original songs than ever before, will be available July 17 via Walt Disney Records. It is available now for pre-save and pre-add.
Reprising their roles are Kylie Cantrall as Red, Malia Baker as Chloe, Leonardo Nam as Maddox Hatter, Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother, and Paolo Montalban as King Charming, with Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts and Brandy as Cinderella.
New to the cast are Liamani Segura as Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal, Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook, Joel Oulette as Robbie Hood, Zavien Garrett as Felix Facilier, Ryan McEwen as Squirmy Smee, Dayton Paradis as Squeaky Smee, and Awkwafina as Chessy the Cat.
Kimmy Gatewood (“Muppets Mayhem”) directs from a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (“Sneakerella”) and Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (“Descendants: The Rise of Red”). Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh return as executive producers, and Gatewood also serves as co-executive producer. Emmy Award-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal (“Wicked,” “Sneakerella”) will stage the film’s new music-and-dance sequences, a hallmark of the franchise.
Since the first “Descendants” premiered in 2015, the franchise has been a force in youth entertainment. Each of the first three films ranked as the most-watched cable movie of its year, amassing nearly 1 billion hours of viewing across linear and streaming in the U.S. In 2024, “Descendants: The Rise of Red” debuted on Disney+ as the most-watched original movie among kids and girls 6-11, sparking more than 9 billion lifetime views and inspiring a top Halloween costume. In the summer of 2025, the “Descendants/ZOMBIES Worlds Collide Tour” played to sold-out crowds in more than 40 arenas across North America.
New products inspired by the film are also coming soon, including a doll line from Mattel, costumes, apparel, and books.
Previous “Descendants” films and “The Descendants/ZOMBIES Worlds Collide: Concert Special” are now streaming on Disney+ in the “Descendants” Collection.
The “Worlds Collide Concert Tour” returns to North America in fall 2026 with stars from the Descendants, ZOMBIES, and Camp Rock franchises, including Malachi Barton, Liamani Segura, Dara Reneé, Mekonnen Knife, Hudson Stone, Swayam Bhatia, Kiara Romero, and Alexandro Byrd. The tour will visit 49 arenas across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with tickets now on sale. It will continue in 2027 with 11 shows across the U.K. and Europe.
