Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has been found guilty on all 34 counts in his New York hush money trial. This conviction marks the first time in American history that a former president has been criminally convicted.

The charges stem from allegations that Trump orchestrated hush money payments during his 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of extramarital affairs. The jury deliberated for three days before returning the unanimous verdict, which included charges of falsifying business records and violating campaign finance laws.

Judge Alan Weiss announced that Trump’s sentencing is set for July 11th, just days before the Republican National Convention, where the GOP is expected to select its nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Trump, who has been a dominant force in the Republican Party, was a leading contender for the nomination before this legal setback.

Reacting to the verdict, Trump remained defiant, suggesting that the trial was politically motivated. “The real verdict is gonna be November 5th by the people,” Trump declared, referring to the upcoming presidential election. “This was done by the Biden administration,” he added, claiming that the prosecution was part of a broader effort by his political opponents to derail his comeback bid.
