Dr. Princess Dennar, was the first and only Black woman at Tulane School of Medicine serve as program director.

Dr. Dennar was allegedly fired because administrators were scared of losing white medical students in their program.

An Instagram user WokeDoctors posted a photo of Dr. Princess Dennar.

“In fear of losing white applicants, Tulane medical school refused to appoint their first black female director, only allowing her to be a Co-Director. When #DrDennar was hired, she endured constant discrimination and criticism until she was fired. Their reasoning: they didn’t want to deter white applicants from applying. Dr. Dennar didn’t deserve this. @tulanemed this is racist. We demand justice for Dr. Dennar.”

Dr. Dennar is suing Tulane University for alleged discrimination stemming from racism and sexism, according to The Tulane Hullabaloo.

Dr. Jeffery and Dr. Lee Hamm, senior vice president and dean of the School of Medicine are being accused of being racist and sexist towards Dr. Dennar and other minorities who work at Tulane University.

The lawsuit states that Wiese and Hamm have diminish Dennar’s leadership and authority such as relocating her program without consulting her and taking her off the MedHub online platform, thereby hindering her ability to perform.

Dennar is still a clinical faculty member in the School of Medicine, but her role as director of the Meds Peds residency program has been suspended and is currently under review.
