Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer have officially joined the star-studded cast of Amazon MGM Studios‘ upcoming film, “The Pickup,” led by the legendary Eddie Murphy. Tim Story is set to direct the film, and production will be handled by The Story Company, Davis Entertainment, and Eddie Murphy Productions, with notable figures such as John Davis and Charisse Hewitt-Webster on board as producers.

While the plot details are tightly guarded, the film, penned by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, is being characterized as a “heist comedy,” promising a blend of humor and intrigue that has audiences eagerly anticipating its release.

Pete Davidson, currently on a nationwide stand-up tour, has been making waves with his recent work, including Peacock’s “Bupkis,” a series he co-created and co-wrote. His stint on Saturday Night Live, spanning from 2014 to 2022, showcased his comedic brilliance, with Weekend Update features and original music videos earning him widespread acclaim. Davidson’s versatility extends to the big screen, with notable roles in “The King of Staten Island,” “Trainwreck,” and “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.”

Keke Palmer, who rose to fame at a young age with her breakthrough role in “Akeelah and the Bee,” has since become a prolific talent in the entertainment industry. Her impressive resume includes diverse projects such as Jordan Peele’s “Nope,” STX’s “Hustlers,” and FOX’s “Scream Queens.” Palmer’s entrepreneurial spirit is evident through her podcast, “Baby, This is Keke Palmer,” and the launch of her digital network, KeyTV, where she has been involved in writing, producing, and starring in original content.

This casting revelation comes hot on the heels of the success of Eddie Murphy’s latest venture, “Candy Cane Lane,” released on Prime Video. The holiday comedy, also produced by Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster, achieved remarkable viewership milestones, becoming Prime Video’s most-watched Amazon MGM Studios-produced movie debut in the U.S. and ranking among the top 10 worldwide film debuts within its first three days.

As anticipation builds for “The Pickup,” fans can expect a comedic heist adventure enriched by the collective talent of Murphy, Davidson, and Palmer, promising an entertaining addition to the Amazon MGM Studios repertoire.
