The deceased woman whose body was found in Lake Michigan has been identified as 31-year-old transgender rights activist Elise Malary, according to Evanston Police Department. Malary was reported missing on March 11th, according to EPD Commander Ryan Glew.
Evanston Police and Evanston Fire Department responded to a call about a woman being washed on rocks in the water around 4:30 p.m. on March 17th. The fire department recovered her body from the water where she was later transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
This is an ongoing investigation and Evanston Police Department has no additional updates at this time
