Fandango Managing Editor, Erik Davis, first shared the news via his Twitter account shortly after the Golden Globe nominations were announced on Thursday morning. Outside of Hollywood, the storyline, representation, and over all tone present in Black Panther resonated deeply within Black communities across the globe, creating a cultural phenomenon unlike any other. With a predominantly Black cast, amazing performances throughout and a Black director at the helm, the nomination only adds to the endless list of reasons why Oscar buzz continues to build around arguably the best film of the year.
