One Night Only marks director Will Gluck’s return to romantic comedy. The film features two newcomers, Academy Award-nominated Monica Barbaro and BAFTA-nominated Callum Turner, who portray two strangers who have an unconventional night in New York City.
The trailer was released on Wednesday. One Night Only will be available in theaters on August 7.
Anyone but You and Easy A writer, director, and producer, Will Gluck, wrote, directed, and produced the film. Based on a script by Travis Braun, One Night Only is produced by Olive Bridge Entertainment, Gluck’s company. Jacqueline Monetta, vice president at Olive Bridge and executive producer on Anyone but You, is also a producer on One Night Only.
In A Complete Unknown and Top Gun: Maverick, Monica Barbaro stars as Allie, a hopeful romantic. Callum Turner, known for his roles in Masters of the Air and Fantastic Beasts movies, plays Owen, a man who has just been dumped and seeks something more than a casual hook-up. The two meet in a fictional New York City during what the film calls the only night of the year when single people can sleep together.
Despite their strong attraction, a series of obstacles and wrong turns prevent them from being together as they chase and dodge one another through the city.
Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, indie pop singer King Princess, Ben Marshall, and Ziwe join Barbaro and Turner in the cast. Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton, both seasoned performers, also join the ensemble cast.
