Apple TV+ has revealed its first look at season 2 of “The Sisters Grimm,” and announced that the animated series will return worldwide on Friday, October 2nd.
“The Sisters Grimm” is based on the book series written by Michael Buckley. It follows two contrasting sisters, descendants of the Brothers Grimm, as they solve mysteries. Season 1 received a perfect 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.
While the next season takes place one year after the disappearance of the sisters’ parents, Sabrina and Daphne Grimm continue to discover the secrets of Ferryport Landing, a magical town full of fairy tales and creatures from fairy tales.
Ariel Winter, who starred in “Modern Family,” voices Sabrina, while Leah Newman voices Daphne. Laraine Newman (“Saturday Night Live”) voices Relda, Abubakar Salim (“Raised by Wolves”) voices Charming, Billy Harris (“Ted Lasso”) voices Puck, and Harry Trevaldwyn (“How To Train Your Dragon”) voices Mirror.
“The Sisters Grimm” was created by Amy Higgins, an Emmy-nominated writer and showrunner, and Erica Rothschild, another Emmy-nominated writer. The animation was done by Titmouse, the Emmy Award-winning studio behind such animated projects as “Duck and Goose,” “Harriet the Spy,” and “Frog and Toad.”
Higgins, Buckley, and Emmy winners Elliot Blake and Philip Alberstat, Steven Amato, Theresa Park, and Titmouse’s Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Ben Kalina, and Antonio Canobbio are executive producing the upcoming six-episode season. Sage Cotugno serves as the show’s supervising director.
The premiere adds to the ever-expanding catalog of kids and family shows. Recently, Apple TV+ has added “My Brother the Minotaur” from Cartoon Saloon and Dog Ears; “Wonder Pets: In the City” from Emmy winner Jennifer Oxley and Nickelodeon Animation; the animated trilogy “WondLa” based on Tony DiTerlizzi’s book; “Yo Gabba GabbaLand!”; season 2 of “Shape Island” based on Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen’s books; “Goldie” inspired by Emily Brundige’s 2019 short film; “Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical” and “Snoopy Presents: There’s No Place Like Home”; and “Camp Snoopy.”
As well as these, some of the all-ages titles that are currently available internationally are “The Velveteen Rabbit” (both live-action and animated, the winner of BAFTA and Emmy awards); “El Deafo”; “Lovely Little Farm”; DreamWorks Animation’s “BE@RBRICK”; “Duck & Goose”; “Get Rolling With Otis”; Spin Master Entertainment’s “Sago Mini Friends”; “Frog and Toad”; “Not a Box”; “Pinecone & Pony”; The Jim Henson Company’s “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock,” “Harriet the Spy,” and “Slumberkins”; Sesame Workshop’s “Helpsters”; Scholastic’s “Puppy Place”; “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory” from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, HITRECORD, and Bento Box Entertainment; and “Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show” from Jack McBrayer and Angela C. Santomero.
Among the live-action shows are “Me” by Barry L. Levy; Bonnie Hunt’s “Amber Brown”; “Best Foot Forward”; “Surfside Girls”; “Life by Ella”; “Ghostwriter” from Sesame Workshop and Sinking Ship; and “Jane.” As well as these, there is also an Emmy-winning event, “Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth,” based on Oliver Jeffers’ book.
