Netflix is concocting its next guilty pleasure romantic comedy with Lovestuck, a whimsical, emotionally complex new show currently in production. Combining small-town sweetness and a twisty premise filled with secrets, sweet moments, and second chances, Lovestuck is primed to tug heartstrings and tickle funny bones when it exclusively premieres on the streaming platform.

With a fresh new cast of beloved actors, Jung Hae-in, newcomer Ha-young, and the return of a dream team of creatives, this rom-com is not only playing games with amnesia. It’s rewriting the rules of romance.

A Woman Without Memories. A Man With Far Too Many Secrets. What Could Possibly Go Horribly Wrong?

The action centers on Go Eun-sae, a whip-smart and ambitious prosecutor who wakes up in a quiet rural village without a memory of who she is or how she got there. She is in a rural clinic surrounded by locals and tacky-sweet taffy shops. To further complicate matters, a mystery man named Jang Tae-ha appears at her bedside and claims he is her loyal boyfriend.

Only he’s not.

Jang Tae-ha, played by Jung Hae-in, is no ordinary fellow. He was a young boxing star once with the world in his hands, but his life got into a tailspin when he joined a gang. Now trying to earn an honest living as a local town boxer’s coach, he encounters Eun-sae mid-way through his final job for the gang and recognizes her as his lost first love. When he knows she no longer remembers him, he makes a crazy and bold choice. He tells a lie, telling her they are in love with each other and that she can trust him.

And thus, a slow-burn romance built on lies, lust, and the intense draw of buried emotions that won’t stay buried begins.

The Quirky Village That Sets the Stage for Romance

The village itself is not just a backdrop. It’s a living, breathing character in the story. Renowned for its charmingly old-fashioned ways and stretches of antique taffy shops, the rural town is full of gossiping neighbors, nosy aunties, and sweet surprises around every corner. It’s the kind of place where secrets are hard to keep, and love has a funny way of finding you even if you can’t remember it.

As Eun-sae begins to acclimatize to her new reality, her prosecutorial instincts as a lawyer do not cease one iota, if not her memories. She feels something artificial about her supposed boyfriend, but for all her nagging suspicion, she cannot shake off the sense of warmth, tolerance, and inner protection he embodies. Despite herself, she begins to fall again.

Ha-young infuses Eun-sae with a captivating combination of vulnerability and quick wit, making her character as easy to laugh with as she is to root for. It’s her first official romantic comedy lead, and word on the street indicates it’ll be a breakout performance for the up-and-coming actress.

A Reunion Behind the Scenes: Director and Writer Duo Returns

Lovestuck reunites director Kim Jang-han and writer Mo Ji-hye, the creative minds behind Do You Like Brahms? and My Demon. Four years ago, they gave audiences rich, deep, and charming storytelling, and their return is one of the most awaited things about this new series.

Kim Jang-han’s direction unites poetic visualization with painful intimacy, making full use of sweeping panoramas of rural landscapes and intense close-up emotional exchanges. Mo Ji-hye’s script injects humor and humanity into every scene, balancing bizarre setups with honest emotional commitment.

Their joint appearance makes Lovestuck a much more than a run-of-the-mill amnesia rom. It’s a complicated, multi-layered one with complex characters and all the goopy melodrama fans have grown accustomed to getting from K-romances.

Jung Hae-in and Ha-young: Countryside Chemistry

Jung Hae-in is familiar with the romantic drama genre, having won our hearts in dramas such as Something in the Rain, One Spring Night, and, most recently, Mom’s Friend’s Son. In Lovestuck, Jung plays a man desperate to move beyond his past and desperately search for a second chance at love. Tae-ha may be imperfect, but his emotional sincerity and caregiving nature will instantly capture your heart.

Situated across from him, Ha-young gives Eun-sae a jolt of much-needed energy. Her take on a genius female with vulnerability issues puts a new twist on the classic rom-com heroine. Together, they are certain to create tension, tenderness, and the kind of on-screen magic that keeps people awake late at night binge-watching.

A Love Story That’s Sticky, Sweet, and Surprisingly Deep

Essentially, Lovestuck is a story of the rediscovery of love, who you are, and who you used to be before things got too complicated. Through the peculiar predicament of Eun-sae and Tae-ha, the series poses questions on truth, forgiveness, and whether love can be true if it’s built on a lie.

The mix of rural landscapes, mysterious history, surprise humor, and genuine romance makes Lovestuck a must-watch for genre fans. Add a blue-chip cast and an award-winning creative team, and Netflix might have its next big hit.

Coming Soon to Netflix

Lovestuck is currently in production and will be streaming exclusively on Netflix. With its fresh premise, legendary cast, and seasoned storytellers at the helm, the show is already generating buzz among K-drama and rom-com enthusiasts.

If you’re a true believer in second chances or just like a good story about two people stuck together under the strangest of situations, Lovestuck is for you. Warned is wise, however. As the town’s famous taffy is, this romance may be sticky in the very best way.
