Thanks to Instagram influencer Karlye Taylor, Velma Dinkley gets some Halloween attitude.

In one of her recent TikToks, Taylor puts a twist on the iconic Mystery Inc. brain by exchanging the orange turtleneck for a cropped top featuring cutouts. She styles it with a red pleated miniskirt, oversized glasses, and matching orange knee socks.

“How cute is this? I’m Velma from Scooby-Doo,” the social media sensation shows off her costume. “The bangs make it all!”

Taylor may still be missing a red or orange headband that could have completed the look, but that doesn’t stop her from saying the outfit “has such a vibe!”

Her followers agree. One fan calls her “the best Velma to date”; another one calls her “such a Scooby snack.”

This isn’t the first time Velma has gotten a new wardrobe. Last year, in 2024, singer Chloë Bailey wore the costume at Kendall Jenner’s Halloween bash. She styled it with an orange top and a tiny red skirt. Her sister, Halle Bailey, completed the duo by dressing up as Daphne in a violet dress.

Golf influencer Paige Spiranac put her own spin on Velma last year, too. She showcased her look in October 2023 and brought it back the following October.

Taylor’s look comes after Netflix finished filming “Scooby-Doo: Origins”. The live-action TV show will tell how Mystery Inc. was formed.

According to Variety, Abby Ryder Fortson will play Velma, Mckenna Grace will play Daphne, Tanner Stash will play Shaggy, and Maxwell Jenkins will play Fred.

The supporting cast features the members of OutKast, André 3000, Cathy Moriarty from the movie “Casper,” and former “Roseanne” actor Sara Gilbert. The roles of the latter ones have not been disclosed yet by Netflix.

Despite the secrecy surrounding the casting, the actor who played Velma on the big screen is already rooting for the new characters.

Linda Cardellini, who appeared as Velma in the movies “Scooby-Doo” (2002) and “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” (2004), told Deadline in June that this cast “will be part of something that is television history”.

“I’m very excited for them,” Cardellini added. “And I’ll be there in support of it in any way I can.”

Although the first season of Netflix’s new gang is scheduled for 2027, Taylor’s Velma has already appeared in her Snapchat story, where she took a mirror selfie in the costume. Another picture shows her orange knee socks with pointy red heels instead of Velma’s Mary Janes.
