Film Review: Zack Snyder’s Justice League Is An Absolute Masterpiece From Start to Finish

Oh, what a difference a director can make! Zack Snyder’s Justice League is the film you always wanted
‘Why is there another Justice League?’

The theatrical release of Justice League 2017 endured a great deal of unfortunate events from extensive script changes to Snyder stepping down due the tragic passing of his daughter, Autumn. Joss Whedon was hired as an uncredited director to finish the film. Shifting the from the original direction of the film, Whedon oversaw a great deal of reshoots and cut the films runtime in half . This resulted in the poor performing Justice League 2017 movie for the DCEU and led to Warner Bros shifting their focus to more individual films.

The Zack Snyder’s Justice League is the film Snyder had envisioned and intended to create prior stepping down. Like the 2017 Justice League, Snyder’s cut follows Batman enlisting the help of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborgs journey as they come together to stop Steppenwolf from synchronizing the Mother Boxes.

Thankfully, that is where the comparisons between the two films ends.

Good Morning to Zack Snyder and Zack Snyder Only!

After watching the 4 hour, full-length Snyder Cut of the Justice league, it is quite easy to understand why fans spent years relentlessly demanding its release. Snyder Justice League is nothing short of a cinematic of a DCEU masterpiece.

This is the Justice League movie the fans originally deserved and unlike me trying but failing to manifest a new Rihanna album this year, DC Comic fans successfully manifested as a massively entertaining film from start to finish. Sidenote: DC Comic Fans if you have any tips on how to make my manifestations more successful let me know.

The storyline / plot is far more consistent and cohesive compared to the 2017 release of the Justice League. You wont need to be a dedicated fan or have an abundant amount of prior knowledge of DC Comics to understand the backstories of certain characters because they are properly explained. This was an understandable complaint that I noticed was echoed a lot around the 2017 release.

The backstories of The Flash (Erza Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Aquaman (Jason Mamoa) and other characters’ are far more developed than the 2017 Justice League release. Their personal stories and struggles are interestingly executed far more in line with the comics, which I personally appreciated as a DC Comics fan.

Snyder Cut will have you more excited for a Justice League sequel and a potential stand alone films for “The Flash” and “Cyborg” if Warner Bros decide to make it happen.

Action scenes in Snyder Cut are some of the best in the past decade. Every superhero has at least two bad ass moments in this film. I do wish Steppenwolf was made more as a threat to the Justice League. Outside of trying to synchronize the boxes he really didn’t strike any fear or have any moments that had Justice League in serious life threatening trouble. Steppenwolf still had the “oh shit” and “oh damn” moments in the film.

Snyder is known for his use of slow motion in and out of action scenes in his movies and in this movie he executed his technique masterfully.

The cinematography is stunning. S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G!  Every character introductions was shot brilliantly and Fabian Wagner deserves a lot of praise for his cinematography.

Thomas Holkenborg (JUNKIE XL) composed Snyder Cut so beautifully from start to finish. It was another drastic change from Danny Elfman 2017 Justice League score. Junkie XL will have you at the edge of your seat anticipating to see something great instead of having you sleepy and waiting for the film to hurry up and end.

Justice League runtime is a little bit over four hours but feels like a two hour movie. It didn’t feel as long as Scorsese’s “The Irishman” or Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight”. Every scene was captivating . The scenes in this movie are nothing short of brilliant, beautifully shot, expertly acted and expertly executed. Just pure brilliance.

The ending of this film was amazing and really opens it up for an amazing sequel. Warner Bros Pictures and DC Comics should think about exploring this sequel very soon because fans will be wanting more.

Snyder’s Cut is a must see blockbuster this week. It took a great deal to get to get this version of the film and it was well worth the wait. Here’s to hoping the DC Comic Fans can use their manifestation powers to manifest two more films.

You can see Zack Snyder’s Justice league on HBO MAX on March 18th
