Rachel Morrison’s ‘Flint Strong’ starring Ryan Destiny and Brian Tyree Henry has an official release date, according to Film Updates.
The film ‘Flint Strong’ wrapped production last summer, Ryan Destiny made the announcement through her Instagram story on July 22, 2022.
‘Flint Strong’ is based on Claressa “T-REX” Shields’ boxing journey, which will take place when she was 17 years old and dreamed of becoming the first woman in history to win an Olympic gold medal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the Flint, Michigan native made her dream a reality.
Ryan Destiny will portray Claressa Shields in the upcoming film. Jackie is played by Oluniké Adeliyi, and Brian Tyree Henry will play her coach, Jason Crutchfield, who worked a cable job during the day and trained her at night. Crutchfield still trains at Berston Field House and lives in Flint with his family.

Rachel Morrison is directing the film, and she spoke with Film Roundtable earlier this year about Ryan’s performance. Barry Jenkins wrote the script of “Flint Strong.” The film is produced by Michael De Luca, Barry Jenkins, and Elishia Holmes.
‘Flint Strong’ will hit theaters on August 9th, 2024.
