The arrest of a 38-year-old Punta Gorda woman occurred following accusations that she engaged in sexual acts with the family dog. According to the Charlotte County detectives, surveillance videos of her house revealed the woman engaging in sexual acts with the dog.
Malia Elizabeth Nummerdor, 38, of Port Charlotte, was arrested on September 15th and charged with sexual acts with an animal, a second-degree felony in Florida. The woman has been arraigned on a $35,000 bond.
The detective said the investigation began following the accusation made by her estranged husband, Erik Nummerdor, on social media. According to WWSB, Erik Nummerdor posted on Facebook on September 11th saying that videos were showing his wife engaging in sexual activities with their dog. The husband met with deputies on September 14th, showed them the videos, and gave them full access to his computer.
According to WCXS 104.5 Classic Country, Erik Nummerdor, whom the detective said was her estranged husband, said in the affidavit that he had installed two cameras in the house while trying to find out who was stealing money from a coin box. Detective Donald Woelke opened a case after hearing about his Facebook post.
During a sworn interview during her arrest, Nummerdor denied all the allegations, saying she had only been lying beside the dog and petting him near his bed. Her statement did not coincide with the video footage. She asked for a lawyer and was taken to the police station. After concluding the interview, the detectives told Nummerdor that she was going to be arrested.
Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell expressed disbelief at the case and criticized Nummerdor’s booking photo, in which she was smiling. He published the arrest report on September 16th.
According to Florida Statutes, a second-degree felony carries a penalty of up to 15 years in jail.
The news about her arrest spread across the Internet fast, drawing comments from horrified people as well as jokes linking her case with a recent FBI policy concerning previous conduct.
It was unclear whether Malia Nummerdor had a lawyer.
